Medical Program (USydMP) - Problem Based Learning

The uniqueness of the USydMP curriculum is that Problem-Based Learning (PBL) extends throughout the four years of the program. This vertical integration allows for greater complexity in the development of students’ clinical reasoning capability using methods that range from low-fidelity (in the classroom plus once/week clinical visits) to high-fidelity (case-based learning in the clinical environment). OPME staff have expertise in:

  • Including Clinical Reasoning in the clinical learning environment
  • Development, design and implementation of PBL curricula to promote clinical reasoning and self-directed learning
  • Large class PBL methods
  • Evaluation of PBL processes
